Calendar Fundraiser

Making Giving Fun and Interactive

Challenge:
We needed to create a digital fundraiser that allowed athletes to raise money without the need for physical door-to-door sales. The challenge was to design an engaging yet simple experience for both athletes and supporters.


Approach:
As one of my first product design projects, I brought our stakeholders' vision to life by creating an intuitive and visually engaging online calendar fundraiser:


  • Interactive Calendar: Supporters could select meaningful dates (e.g., birthdays, player numbers) to donate to, with each date corresponding to a dollar amount (March 6th = $6).
     
  • Bright Visuals & Easy Navigation: I used a pastel gradient for the calendar squares and simple interactions, such as clicking to select and unselect dates, to create a fun, engaging experience.
     
  • Simple Checkout: The donation total auto-populated as users selected dates, leading to a smooth and easy checkout process.
     

Outcome:

  • Engagement Boost: The digital, interactive nature of the calendar helped increase supporter participation. The simple, intuitive design encouraged donations without feeling overwhelming.
     
  • Streamlined Fundraising for Athletes: The platform allowed athletes to easily share their fundraiser, without the need for managing paper calendars or conducting door-to-door sales.
     

Why It Worked:
The combination of a visually engaging, user-friendly calendar with a seamless donation process made the experience enjoyable for supporters and easy for athletes to manage. The visual design and interactive features helped drive more engagement and donations.
